Meaghan Cher
My name is Meaghan Cher and i’m an advocate, and passionate voice for justice reform. My journey into advocacy began after a family member was sexually abused by a trusted family friend. Years later, after serving time for that offence, the same man murdered my mother-in-law and attempted to kill me, my partner and my mother in attempts to find that family member. He was ultimately convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with parole eligibility after 17 years.
That experience left me determined to turn profound loss and frustration with the justice system into meaningful change. After connecting with fellow advocates following a sexual assault rally in Welland in 2025, I became part of a growing movement committed to making communities safer and giving survivors a stronger voice.
Today, I actively advocate for stronger protections for children, greater transparency and accountability within the justice system, meaningful bail and parole reform, and survivor empowerment—including giving survivors greater control over their own stories.
My mission is simple: to help create a justice system that puts victims, survivors, and community safety first.
